The author I’m pleased to be hosting for Virtual FantasyCon’s Blog Hop Hunt today is Bryan Rainey, author of the saga Odyssey Star.

I am Bryan Rainey. I am a science fiction author. I write a saga called Odyssey Star. The first book in the Odyssey Star saga comes out on November eighteenth. It is called Legacy of the Stars. It is part of the Odyssey Star: Legacy Series. The second book coming out February seventeenth, two thousand and seventeen is called Diviniti in Need. It is part of the Odyssey Star: Diviniti series. The third book called STAR SAMURAI is the first book of the Odyssey Star: Star Samurai series, which starts in the past and leads into events that are in other books. In arrives on May nineteenth, two thousand and seventeen. The first of many one-shots arrives on August the eighteenth, two thousand and seventeen. It will feature the elven maiden and space pirate known as Starfyre Rose.

All the books of the Odyssey Star saga will be linked together, even if they belong in other series. The series will have a running set of characters, though some of those same characters may crossover to other series as cameos or supporting characters.

I call Odyssey Star my little Star Wars narrative on a single planet for now. There are spacefaring characters. But I am concentrating on one planet for now. The planet I call Rithania.

Now to introduce you to the first bit of the story of Odyssey Star: Legacy One: Legacy of the Stars.

The Blurb

Bryan Rainy - Odyssey Star LegacyFiona Harley, the daughter of the King of FaLora, is newly engaged to the Gwinari Ambassador, Coph Denari. She is sought after by one of the Ancients, who is a friend of the Denari family, after she is stripped of her powers by an unknown source.

However, there is another who wants to acquire Fiona to draw out her father so that he might get his revenge. He sends the Aegyptian bounty hunter, Reinar, to capture her. He manages to infiltrate a Gwinari Ball.

Reinar makes his mark. He leaves something for the happy couple after the ball. Something that looks harmless enough. They bring it onto their shuttle upon departure. It connects with a device placed on the hull of the shuttle.

Everything goes awry from there…

AVAILABLE IN NOVEMBER!

From the beginning of Chapter Eleven:

COPH, FIONA, AND ALINA STOP IN A CORNER OF THE monkaries section near the back. Fiona looks at Coph. They are all huffing and puffing. Alina looks at her sister.

“Tissy, I’m scared.” Alina says as she shakes.

Fiona takes a deep breath and nearly chokes on it. “So am I, squirt. So am I.” She turns and looks at Coph. “What is a bounty hunter doing here?”

“I don’t know, my dear. But the situation is not good.” Coph says.

“You think?” Fiona raises a brow.

Coph reaches into the satchel. He removes a long cylindrical metallic object and holds it out for Fiona. “Here. You’ll need this.”

Fiona looks at Coph. She reaches out and takes it. “My plasmasabre? You brought it?”

“I thought it might be prudent, plus I didn’t see you pick it up this morning.” Coph tells her. “Better safe than sorry.”

“I was coming here with my sister.” Fiona says. “It’s the Zoo. Who would’ve thought trouble would follow us?”

“Really, Fi? You and I seem to be magnets for trouble.” Coph reminds her.

Fiona feels a smaller hand tugging her shirt. Fiona looks down at Alina. “Yes, squirt?”

“Look, tissy, bad man.” Alina says. She points in the direction of Gasfar.

Fiona staying crouched sees Gasfar looking around he has the FP-64 of the FaLoran Protector in his hand. Fiona looks at Coph with just her eyes moving. Coph nods his head. “I’ll watch, Alina.”

Fiona rises to her feet. Gasfar sees her. He has a smile on his face. “Drop the plasmasabre, princess.” He is pointing the pulse pistol at Fiona.

“Bounty Hunter, I do not know why you are here. Why you are attacking me here?” Fiona says. She grips the hilt of her plasmasabre tighter in her right hand.

“Now, now, princess.” Gasfar says smugly. “We don’t want things to get messy, do we?”

“Then, let us go and there will be no additional bodies.” Fiona says. She begins to clench her jaw.

“Ah, you saw that, did you?” Gasfar waves the pistol. “Tsk. Tsk. Tsk. Princess, now you have to die.” A wry grin emerges from his lips.
